Bhagavadgita 15.2 & 15.3

अधश्चोर्ध्वं प्रसृतास्तस्य शाखा गुणप्रवृद्धा विषयप्रवालाः।

अधश्च मूलान्यनुसन्ततानि कर्मानुबन्धीनि मनुष्यलोके।।15.2।।

15.2 The branches of this tree extend downward and upward, nourished by the three modes of material nature. The twigs are the objects of the senses. This tree also has roots going down, and these are bound to the fruitive actions of human society.

15.2  ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆದ ವಿಷಯಗಳೆಂಬ ಚಿಗುರುಳ್ಳ ಅದರ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳು ಕೆಳಗೂ ಮೇಲೂ ಹಬ್ಬಿರುವುವು. ಅದರ ಬಿಳಲುಗಳು ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ.

न रूपमस्येह तथोपलभ्यते नान्तो न चादिर्न च संप्रतिष्ठा।

अश्वत्थमेनं सुविरूढमूल मसङ्गशस्त्रेण दृढेन छित्त्वा।।15.3।।

15.3 The real form of this tree cannot be perceived in this world. No one can understand where it ends, where it begins, or where its foundation is. But with determination one must cut down this tree with the weapon of detachment. 

15.3  ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಥಾ ರೂಪವೆಂಬುದು ಕಂಡುಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ನಡು, ಬುಡ, ಕೊನೆ-ಮೂರು ಕೂಡಾ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಬೇರುಗಳಿರುವ ಈ ಅಶ್ವತ್ಥವನ್ನು ದೃಢವಾದ ಅಸಂಗವೆಂಬ ಶಸ್ತ್ರದಿಂದ ಕತ್ತರಿಸಬೇಕು.
