श्री भगवानुवाच

कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम्।

अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन।।2.2।।

2.2 The Blessed Lord said Whence has come to you this impurity, this dejection which is unworthy of you, disgraceful, and which will close the gates of heaven upon you, O Arjuna?

2.2. ದೇವೋತ್ತಮ ಪರಮ ಪುರುಷನು ಹೇಳಿದನು - ಪ್ರಿಯ ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಈ ಕಶ್ಮಲವು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು? ಬದುಕಿನ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಈ ಕಶ್ಮಲವು ಭೂಷಣವಲ್ಲ; ಅನಾರ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು. ಇಂತಹ ಕಶ್ಮಲವು ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಂಡೊಯ್ಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಪಕೀರ್ತಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

क्लैब्यं मा स्म गमः पार्थ नैतत्त्वय्युपपद्यते।

क्षुद्रं हृदयदौर्बल्यं त्यक्त्वोत्तिष्ठ परन्तप।।2.3।।

2.3 Yield not to impotence, O Arjuna, son of Pritha. It does not befit thee. Cast off this mean weakness of the heart! Stand up, O scorcher of the foes!

2.3. ಪೃಥೆಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಪಾರ್ಥನೆ, ಷಂಡತನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಬೇಡ. ಇದು ನಿನಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದದ್ದಲ್ಲ. ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಪವನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡುವವನೆ, ಈ ಹೃದಯ ದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯವು ಕ್ಷುದ್ರವಾದದ್ದು; ಇದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮೇಲೇಳು.

सञ्जय उवाच

एवमुक्त्वाऽर्जुनः संख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत्।

विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः।।1.47।।

1.47. Sanjaya said Having thus spoken in the midst of the battlefield, Arjuna, casting away his bow and arrow, sat down on the seat of the chariot with his mind overwhelmed with sorrow.

1.47 ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು - ರಣಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಬಿಲ್ಲು ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬದಿಗಿಟ್ಟು ದುಃಖಪರವಶನಾಗಿ ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡನು.

सञ्जय उवाच

तं तथा कृपयाऽविष्टमश्रुपूर्णाकुलेक्षणम्।

विषीदन्तमिदं वाक्यमुवाच मधुसूदनः।।2.1।।

2.1 Sanjaya said To him who had been thus filled with pity, whose eyes were filled with tears and showed distress, and who was sorrowing, Madhusudana uttered these words:

2.1 ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು - ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿ ವಿಷಣ್ಣಮನಸ್ಕನಾಗಿ ಕಂಬನಿ ತುಂಬಿದ ಅರ್ಜುನನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಮಧುಸೂಧನನಾದ ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
