श्री भगवानुवाच

त्रिविधा भवति श्रद्धा देहिनां सा स्वभावजा।

सात्त्विकी राजसी चैव तामसी चेति तां श्रृणु।।17.2।।

17.2 The Supreme Lord said, according to the modes of nature acquired by the embodied soul, one's faith can be of three kinds-goodness, passion or ignorance. Now hear about these.

17.2 ಶ್ರೀ ಭಗವಂತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ-

ಜೀವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಭಾವದಿಂದುಂಟಾಗುವ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯು ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ, ರಾಜಸ, ತಾಮಸ ಎಂದು ಮೂರು ಬಗೆಯಿರುವುದು. ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವೆನು ಕೇಳು.

सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत।

श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः।।17.3।।

17.3 According to one's existence under the various modes of nature, one evolves a particular kind of faith. The living being is said to be of a particular faith according to the modes he has acquired.

17.3  ಭರತವಂಶೋತ್ಪನ್ನನೇ, ಯಾರ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಾದರೂ ಸಹ ಅವರವರ ಅಂತಃಕರಣಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಇರುವುದು. ಈ ಪುರುಷನು ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾಮಯನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಯಾವನು ಎಂಥ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯುಳ್ಳವನೋ ಅವನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಇರುವನು.
