Bhagavadgita 17.4 & 17.5

यजन्ते सात्त्विका देवान्यक्षरक्षांसि राजसाः।

प्रेतान्भूतगणांश्चान्ये यजन्ते तामसा जनाः।।17.4।।

17.4 Men in the mode of goodness worship the demigods; those in the mode of passion worship the demons; and those in the mode of ignorance worship ghosts and spirits.

17.4 ಸಾತ್ವಿಕರು ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರಾಜಸರು ಯಕ್ಷರಾಕ್ಷಸರನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮಿಕ್ಕ ತಾಮಸರು ಪ್ರೇತಭೂತಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

अशास्त्रविहितं घोरं तप्यन्ते ये तपो जनाः।

दम्भाहङ्कारसंयुक्ताः कामरागबलान्विताः।।17.5।।

17.5 Those who undergo severe austerities and penances not recommended in the scriptures, performing them out of pride, egotism, lust and attachment

17.5 ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವಿಧಿಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಾರು ತೋರಿಕೆಗಾಗಿ, ದಂಭ, ಅಹಂಕಾರಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಬಲದಿಂದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಯನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆನ್ನುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವರೋ,
