Bhagavadgita 17.14 & 17.15

देवद्विजगुरुप्राज्ञपूजनं शौचमार्जवम्।

ब्रह्मचर्यमहिंसा च शारीरं तप उच्यते।।17.14।।

17.14 The austerity of the body consists in this: worship of the Supreme Lord, the brahmanas, the spiritual master, and superiors like the father and mother. Cleanliness, simplicity, celibacy and nonviolence are also austerities of the body.

17.14 ದೇವತೆಗಳು, ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು, ಗುರುಹಿರಿಯರು, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವುದು, ಶುಚಿತ್ವ, ಸರಳತೆ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಚರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವುದು, ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದು, ಇವು ಶಾರೀರಿಕ ತಪಸ್ಸೆನಿಸುವುದು.

अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत्।

स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते।।17.15।।

17.15 Austerity of speech consists in speaking truthfully and beneficially and in avoiding speech that offends. One should also recite the Vedas regularly.

17.15 ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ನೋವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡದೆ ಸತ್ಯವೂ, ಪ್ರಿಯವೂ, ಹಿತವೂ ಆದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ವೇದಾಭಾಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದು, ವಾಂಗ್ಮಯ ತಪಸ್ಸೆನಿಸುವುದು.

अभिसंधाय तु फलं दम्भार्थमपि चैव यत्।

इज्यते भरतश्रेष्ठ तं यज्ञं विद्धि राजसम्।।17.12।।

17.12 But that sacrifice performed for some material end or benefit or performed ostentatiously, out of pride, is of the nature of passion, O chief of the Bharatas.

17.12 ಎಲೈ ಭರತಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನೇ, ಫಲವನ್ನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು, ತೋರಿಕಿಗಾಗಿ ಯಾವ ಯಜ್ಞವು ನಡೆಯುವುದೋ ಅದನ್ನು ರಾಜಸವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿ.

विधिहीनमसृष्टान्नं मन्त्रहीनमदक्षिणम्।

श्रद्धाविरहितं यज्ञं तामसं परिचक्षते।।17.13।।

17.13 And that sacrifice performed in defiance of scriptural injunctions, in which no spiritual food is distributed, no hymns are chanted and no remunerations are made to the priests, and which is faithless-that sacrifice is of the nature of ignorance.

17.13 ವಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೇ, ಅನ್ನದಾನ ಮಾಡದೆ, ಸರಿಯಾದ ಮಂತ್ರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು ದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ನೀಡದೇ, ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ತಾಮಸವೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
